Jenny has always been afraid of butterflies throughout her entire life. I remember that in Venezuela, we used to have big butterflies (like the size of a bat) flying into our house. We would get scared if they went near us. But at that time there weren't any major incidents that would make me think that Jenny would have panic towards them.
In our trip to Hong Kong in December 1997, Jenny, Jaewon, her friend from NYU, and I went to Hoi Jion Kong Yuen; I forgot the English name of this famous park. This park had lots of stuff... different rides, dolphins' and sea lions' shows, aquarium, etc. It also had a butterfly house where visitors could go in and look at the different types of butterflies that fly around freely in their habitat. At first, Jenny didn't want to go inside the butterfly house. We were waiting in the line and when we reached the entrance, Jenny wanted to back out. Jaewon and I went it, making her to go in as well. When she was inside the butterfly house, she started to walk fast, even run for the exit; she screamed when the butterflies flew near her face. After that I started laughing at the way she reacted, not sure if Jaewon laughed as well. I could not understand her paranoia for the butterflies.
On another trip, when Jenny and Raymond went to Tennessee, she experienced a similar situation. According to Raymond, they were going down the stairs and then all of the sudden, a butterfly appeared in front of her face. She lowered herserlf down as the butterfly flew by, pulling Raymond alongside with her. She did that again when the same butterfly flew by in the other direction.
I guess Jenny, with her phobia, would never want to have butterflies flying near her again =)
Jenny siempre ha tenido miedo a las mariposas en toda su vida. Me acuerdo de que en Venezuela, nosotras teníamos grandes mariposas (como el tamaño de un murciélago) volando dentro de nuestra casa. Nos asustábamos cuando las mariposas se acercaban. Pero en ese tiempo, no hubo ningún incidente que me hiciera recordar que Jenny le tuviera pánico hacias ellas.
En nuestro viaje a Hong Kong en Diciembre de 1997, Jenny, Jaewon, su amiga de NYU, y yo fuimos a Hoi Jion Kong Yuen; se me olvidó el nombre en inglés de este famoso parque. Este parque tenía muchas cosas...diferentes máquinas de diversiones, actos de delfines y focas, aquario, etc. También tenía una casa de mariposas en donde los visitantes podían ir adentro y mirar los diferentes tipos de mariposas que volaban libremente en su hábitat . Al principio, Jenny no quería ir adentro a la casa de las mariposas. Nosotras estábamos esperando en la línea y cuando llegamos a la entrada, Jenny quiso salirse. Jaewon y yo entramos, haciendo que ella entrara con nosotras. Una vez adentro, ella empezó a caminar muy rápida, inclusive corriendo hasta la salida; ella gritó cuando las mariposas volaron cerca de su cara. Después empezé a reir de cómo ella reaccionó, no estuve segura si Jaewon tambié se río de ella. No pude entender su paranoia hacia las mariposas.
En otro viaje, cuando Jenny y Raymond fueron a Tennessee, ella vivió una situación similar. De acuerdo con Raymond, ellos estaban bajándose de las escaleras y de repente, una mariposa se apareció en frente de su cara. Ella se acachó cuando la mariposa voló cerca de ella, halando a Raymond con ella. Ella hizo lo mismo cuando la misma mariposa voló en la dirección contraria.
Me imagino que Jenny, con su fobia, nunca querrá tener mariposas volando de nuevo cerca de ella =)
