Jenny's life in Venezuela

I don't remember the time Jenny was in Kindergarden. Probably at that time I was still too little, well, I don't remember anything before the age of 5. At that time, Jenny was already 7 and studying second grade in the catholic school (as most of us call it, the nuns school).

Jenny had lots of friends, Alejandra, Carla, Carlita, Carolina, Marbelis, Giorla, etc...I don't remember all of them. She usually hanged out with Alejandra, who still is her best friend. At that time, there weren't that many chinese in Venezuela, and in that school we were the only chinese (it was an all-girl school). Some people made fun of us, but Jenny didn't care. She just laughed with them (very different from me). Jenny taught some chinese words to them, probably bad words which some of the people didn't know their meanings and went all around saying them (I made fun of that, hehehe...). I remember that we said some bad words in chinese to certain people whom we didn't like, and they would be clueless. Well, what can I say, we were children.

Jenny was a good and hard working student. She made my life at school easier, the teachers knew her and she got good grades, and because of that they thought, by default, that I would also be a good student. I think I got good grades even though I didn't work that hard.

We participated in a lot of events at the catholic school, performing in the audience, decorating the school, cleaning the school, attending religious seminars (even though we weren't catholics), and others.

We didn't go outside that much when we were at school. We had the school bus take us back and forth from home. We had to wake up around 5:30am, since the bus picked us up around 5:45am. Then we came back home around 2:30pm. Sometimes we went and hung out in our father's restaurant, helping him out.

After Jenny went to the US at the age of 12, she usually went back to Venezuela twice a year (summer and christmas), to visit us. However, for the last 4 or 5 years, she hasn't gone back, and I think she regretted it. One good thing is that she still speaks the language, though not the same when she still had the Venezuelan accent...
